Spring into L’Auberge

Spring weddings are my favorite. The sun is warm, the air is cool and the ocean seems a bit bluer. This spring I’m reminded of my gorgeous bride, Krista, and her beautifully appointed wedding at L’Auberge Del Mar in Del Mar, California. We created a very subtle ocean theme with starfish place cards, seashells on the ivory cake and table names of beaches in the San Diego area. The sapphire waves in the background were a lovely accompaniment to her feminine blush pink decor. Our photographer was Paul from Paul Barnett Photo; florist, Robin from Grand Floral; music provided by Dale of San Diego DJ & Video and cake from Flower Power. Contemporary & Yellow

This beautiful wedding fete held at The Museum of Contemporary Art in La Jolla, California, epitomizes summer, yellow, contemporary and ocean! I love the freshness of delicate, soft yellows and greens paired with the stark crisp white of the linens and the modern museum backdrop. Isari Flower Sudio designed a single voluminous and unexpected alter arrangement in the foreground of the wide blue ocean scenery. Uncomplicated yellow and white flower arrangements with a touch of green succulents were the focal point of the evening and found throughout the spacious Atrium Ballroom for dinner and dancing. Soft amber lighting was added to warm the walls and columns. Modern white lounge furniture was also incorporated to provide visual interest and extra seating and mingling areas. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres were tray passed all night (flow-style menu) by Giuseppe’s Catering and contributed to the free and easy yet elegant affair. For the sweet course, an eye-full of color was displayed through an assortment of desserts and wedding cake provided by Michele Coulon Dessertier.

Pacific Blue Ocean

There are cute couples… and then there are CUTE couples. Brittany & Nick’s wedding took place in beautiful La Jolla at the La Jolla Cove Bridge Club. They radiated sweet, warm tenderness for each other. Brittany chose ocean blue dresses for her bridesmaids that reflected the Pacific Blue Ocean. She incorporated yellow accents throughout that mirrored the brilliant sun. The men’s ties, the bridesmaids’ shoes, the bouquets and centerpieces all incorporated sunny yellow. I really loved her delicate incorporation of the sea as a theme, but without the quintessential sea shells. The guest tables were draped with a rich neutral grey linen which was a beautiful backdrop for the lovely yellow, white and green centerpieces all produced by Lela Mazzeo. DJ Rey delivered wonderful music for the duration of the evening. Classic Party Rentals supplied all rentals. Teale Photography did an amazing job capturing the beauty and the love of the day. The end of the night was topped off with delicious cupcakes from Cupcakes Squared.

Hotel Del Love Affair With Whimsy

This San Diego wedding combined the awe of the Pacific Ocean background and that of the beautiful Hotel Del. The style and whimsy of the creative bride sets her apart with distinction. It’s is no wonder that she would assemble this fanciful team of vendors. Isari Flower Studio picked up on their vision and ran with it. Not literally, but you know what I mean… The incorporation of anemones, orchids, peonies, berries, calla lilies, and roses showcases an uncommon elegance. Let’s not forget unexpected curly willow, birds nests and plant pods for the added quaint sophistication. Tam Ashworth from Isari Flower Studio did a remarkable job creating. Aaron Feldman from True Photography captured the love and affair beautifully. Wayne Foster Entertainment blew their horns and all the guests away with their amazing music. Classic Party Rentals and Platinum Pro provide rentals and lighting to set the mood and Wendy Ware Designs created the magnificent menus, programs, place cards and table cards. Their love affair for each other and whimsy all came together with ease and splendor…like the ocean and all it’s wonders.

Rancho Santa Fe Vintage Wedding

Lush, Romantic, and Vintage

Shawn and Zach were married in Rancho Santa Fe, San Diego. Rancho Santa Fe could possibly be the most beautiful mountain backdrop in and around the San Diego area. They were married at Shawn’s parent’s picturesque estate. The summer air was fresh and the sun was warm. An entire 900 foot stage was built for the affair in their luscious landscaped backyard grounds. Karen Tran Florals delivers a romantic, and vintage theme with an abundance of lush varying white roses and orchids. She added heirloom French lace that adorned the ceremony alter, flower pedestals and head table. The historic feel is amplified with the use of patterned period dishes and sparkly chandeliers. Coupled with the elegance and simplicity of modern-day furniture and sequence pillows, the scene was positively vintage romance. Wayne Foster Entertainment delivered melodic perfection. The delicious food was provided by Continental Catering and masterfully photos captured by Brandon Kidd Photography. Sweet Cheeks supplied the ever romantic and delectable wedding cake.

Museum in Balboa Park

Balboa Park is one of the most beautiful areas of San Diego. Couple that with a dreamy bride and groom and the amazing Natural History Museum and you have the greatest wedding of the year! Paul Barnet Photography captures the day beautifully. Gorgeous pink and white peonies, silver candelabras and unique colorful flower balls produced by Grand Florals and decorate the Natural History Museum. Fun and flirtatious music by The Tijuana Dogs kepted the energy going. Most importantly, the mouthwatering cuisine catered by Urban Kitchen stole the show. I remember the days when all wedding cakes featured a bride and groom at the top. It is a tradition that has fallen by the wayside currently replaced by fresh flowers, candy flowers or a monogram adornment. Although I love fresh flowers displayed on the wedding cake, I fell in love with this flashback idea! It was really sweet. My bride, Ilene, decided to choose a delicate paper bride and groom from Goldbug Studio to decorate the top of her cake. The couple were married at the beautiful La Valencia Hotel in La Jolla, California. Their wedding colors were sea breeze blue with touches of pink. It was a very feminine color palette and the flowers were simply and beautifully designed by Grand Florals. Michele Coulon Dessertier baked and designed the wedding cake where my favorite cake topper of the year was elegantly perched and Paul Barnett Photography captured all the images that day.

The Gem of Santaluz

There is a wonderful little secret being revealed here in our beautiful city of San Diego. The secret is The Santaluz Country Club. She is a gem in the rolling hills of central San Diego County with vast canyon and mountain views on one end and Pacific Ocean views on the opposite. Fittingly, my bride, Susanne, was as bright and brilliant as a jewel herself. So happy, so radiant and so very kind. The groom, Matt, matched her lovelyness and sweetness equally.
Karen Tran of Karen Tran Florals created the masterful sea of deep orange and ruby red florals accented with crystals and candle light. Darin Fong captures the beauty of the couple’s relationship and backdrop. Modern 8 created a video short of an artful movie and DJ Kanoya Productions fills the hours with music that brings it all together. The whole event is a collection of shiny, amazing treasures!!

L’auberge Del mar organic romance: Stacy and Scott

I can’t say enough wonderful things about Stacy and Scott. They were married at the beautifully remodeled L’Auberge Del Mar. At L’Auberge, there are ocean views from every corner of the hotel. Stacy and Scott chose to tie the knot at Sea Grove Park and dinner and dancing in the Platinum Ballroom. Stacy has a really wonderful sense of style and floral designer Karen Tran captured her vision perfectly. Organic romance. They mixed curly willow, orchids, and lavender roses at the park then paired it with romantic silver candelabras and lush flowers in the ballroom. It was sparkly, dramatic and romantic. The olive green, deep purple, burgundy and lavender colors flowed beautifully together. It was striking and soothing at the same time. I love the images taken by Tande of Di-Lanatta’s Photography. Her amazing cake was designed by Michele Coulon Dessertier. A perfect dessert for the perfect couple. It’s easy to see how in love they are. …So in love, in fact, that they have welcomed a gorgeous baby girl, Lila Rose. Enjoy their story through pictures.
