I remember the days when all wedding cakes featured a bride and groom at the top. It is a tradition that has fallen by the wayside currently replaced by fresh flowers, candy flowers or a monogram adornment. Although I love fresh flowers displayed on the wedding cake, I fell in love with this flashback idea! It was really sweet. My bride, Ilene, decided to choose a delicate paper bride and groom from Goldbug Studio to decorate the top of her cake. The couple were married at the beautiful La Valencia Hotel in La Jolla, California. Their wedding colors were sea breeze blue with touches of pink. It was a very feminine color palette and the flowers were simply and beautifully designed by Grand Florals. Michele Coulon Dessertier baked and designed the wedding cake where my favorite cake topper of the year was elegantly perched and Paul Barnett Photography captured all the images that day.
